Early Spring Pussy Willow Pollinators

Spring this year has been odd and sudden. After a few teaser days, it snowed and then bam! 20C degrees.

The tulips are still on their way up and haven’t flowered yet but there are mosquitoes in the air. Pollinators are  awake and looking for a meal but very little is flowering for them. So this year my Pussy Willow is just buzzing.

Everyone has seen the little white Pussy Willow buds, but what you don’t always see is how they turn yellow after they open, thick with pollen.

This honeybee and her friend were enjoying the early spring flowers and spent a long time visiting

Even a Lady Bug stopped by. Well it might be an Asian one but they pollinate and eat aphids all the same.

And some type of bumblebee

So If you want to help feed pollinators early in spring, consider planting  a Pussy Willow tree, the bees will thank you. 🙂
